Hi, my name is Karine and welcome to my Yoga Website. I would like to tell you a little bit about me and my personal experience with yoga.
First, I would like to say how much yoga is important for me. If I had to choose one word to describe what yoga brings to my life, I would say "balance".
I grew up practicing many different sports. Ice hockey became my favorite one. I enjoyed the exercise part of sports, the camaraderie, the competition,... and how it made me feel.
I have always appreciated the health benefits of exercising. I spent much time reading everything I could about training and nutrition. I wanted information that would help me perform, but also information that would help me make healthy choices in general. I think that when we are lucky enough to be in good health, we should cultivate it and not take it for granted.
And for me, yoga has become part of staying healthy. I have been practicing yoga since 2004. I started by myself, in my living room, using DVDs. I quickly fell in love with it and started to take classes.
Most of the classes that I attended were based off the Ashtanga Yoga style. I discovered the benefits of having my own practice at home and I became a certified yoga teacher in 2010. My teacher training was based on Ana Forrest's style and it was fabulous.
For years, I had heard a lot of good things about yoga. But I found for myself how much it could impact one's life. Yoga brings balance to the body and mind, which leads to make better choices on a daily basis. I am more aware and connected to myself. Yoga helps to level my emotional fluctuations and allows to favor what is good for me.
Through the years, my love for competition sports left place to the outdoors. I love to spend time in the woods with my husband and our dog. I enjoy mountain biking, hiking and snowshoeing among others. My outdoor activities and my yoga practice complement each other well. I get my longer cardio exercise on the trails and my quiet meditative moments on the mat.
I hope to soon be posting yoga video classes on this website. There will be outdoors videos. This is a long and slow process, but I hope you'll join me for some fun yoga practices.
